We live in a world where fashion and style play a vital role in our self-image, identities, and let’s be honest, our Instagram feeds. So, it's quite unfortunate that not all women have the same opportunities to explore and express their unique fashion identity.
More To Adorn, a trailblazing plus size accessory brand, was born out of the need to break down barriers and empower plus size women with accessories that embrace and celebrate their curves. Here are three mission-driving reasons why this brand had to come into existence:
Breaking Down Sizing Barriers and Empowering Plus Size Women with Accessories
For plus size women, finding well-fitting jewelry has been a challenge that has persisted for far too long. Rings and bracelets that cater to larger body sizes have been scarce, making it difficult for these women to fully explore their personal style.
We understand that how we present ourselves externally can and does impact our confidence and self-esteem. With over 50,000 jewelry retailers in the US, it's absurd that less than 1% offer rings up to size 13 or larger. This exclusion leaves the 67% of American women, who wear size 14 or larger, with very limited option and that is an issue.
An even more astonishing fact is that, the most commonly stocked women’s ring sizes are 5 through 8, leaving those who require larger sizes feeling overlooked and blatantly excluded.
See, the demand for these sizes is influenced by what's available for purchase. People buy what they can see. Retailers provide more of what is selling. Thus, we’ve created a reinforcing cycle that perpetually excludes those seeking extended sizing.
More To Adorn aims to break this cycle. We provide a collection that fits a range of plus-size bodies, so these women can feel valued and confident in fashionable accessories too.
Representation Matters…. in All Things
The importance of representation in the fashion industry is being slowly addressed. As brands begin to embrace plus size models to showcase plus size clothing, the same principle should apply to the jewelry industry as well.
Seeing oneself reflected in both sizing and imagery is crucial for fostering a sense of belonging. At More To Adorn, we recognize the impact that representation has on the confidence and self-perception of plus size women.
By creating accessories that cater to their needs and featuring plus size imagery, we strive to create a community where every curvy girl (or those who identify as such) feels seen and celebrated. The power of representation extends beyond the jewelry itself; it's about making a bold statement that all bodies are beautiful and deserve to be adorned….even if there’s just a little “more To adorn” (see what we did there?😉).
From Exclusion to Expression
At More To Adorn, our mission is clear:
To empower body-positive, plus-sized, fashion-curious women to use accessories in exploring and expressing their individuality within the body that they have today.
Our pieces are designed to celebrate the unique fashion identity of each woman and help her feel confident in her body, just as it is today, and without shame or shade.
We understand the frustration of those who have felt excluded from the world of accessories due to sizing limitations in the market. So we want to guide, teach, and inspire a new found opportunity to accessorize.
With More To Adorn, a transformation occurs - those who once felt left out can now feel included and represented in the fashion and accessory market. It's about breaking the mold, defying the norm, and creating a space where everyone can adorn themselves with pieces that truly reflect their style and personality. By breaking down sizing barriers, prioritizing representation, and fostering an environment of inclusion, we're reshaping the narrative and paving the way for a more confident and expressive future for plus size women.
More To Adorn is more than just a jewelry brand; it's a movement.
